What are the eligibility criteria for enrolling students in the Migrant Education Program?
AGE: The child is between the ages of 0 and 21.
MOVEMENT ACROSS STATE OR SCHOOL DISTRICT LINES: Parent/guardian or youth who have moved anytime during the past three years across state or school district lines.
AGRICULTURAL WORK: Parent, youth, or immediate family has worked a temporary or seasonal job in agriculture, fishing, or related Industries, in the past three years. Agriculturally related work includes the following occupations.
WHO DETERMINES ELIGIBILITY: State-trained MEP Recruiters/Advocates are responsible for the identification and recruitment of eligible migrant students and their families.
How are the migrant students recruited and served by MEP?
The Colorado Department of Education has designated regions/programs in the state for the purpose of conducting ID&R activities, collaborating with school districts in supporting the academic achievement of migrant students, supporting students with their postsecondary goals, providing opportunities for migrant parents to be active with their child’s education and developing leadership skills of migrant parents so they may serve on school, regional or state parent advisory committees.
The Metro-MEP provides supplemental educational services and referrals for health or mental needs to migrant families.
Your child may qualify to receive supplemental educational services at no cost, such as tutoring, transportation, school supplies, and other services.
