Welcome to the Summer Migrant Youth Leadership Institute (SMYLI). We are pleased you are a member of the class of 2022. SMYLI began over a decade ago as a weekend leadership camp. Thanks to the caliber of our passionate students and dedicated staff, it has evolved into an intensive academic and leadership program whose purpose is to inform and empower migrant students to succeed in high school, transition to secondary education and careers, and participate fully and equitably in civic life. This summer program will challenge you to work hard, identify your goals and develop an action plan for your academic and professional future.
At SMYLI, you will improve skills in the areas of Language Arts, communication, leadership, health, organization, planning and team building. You will meet other migrant students from across Colorado. You will be working with college mentors, who were once migrant students themselves, dedicated bilingual teachers, counselors, chaperones, professionals, and presenters over the next 11 days.
SMYLI is a unique opportunity to experience the college like experiences. We are impressed that you have done what it takes to attend SMYLI. You are investing in yourself and your future by attending this challenging program. We have high expectations for participation and engagement in all classes and activities during our program. We know you can rise to the challenge of SMYLI 2022. We believe in you!
